Hi There!
Welcome to The Holistic Health Nut...
Hi there! Welcome! My name is Kaydine and I am the curator of The Holistic Health Nut (THHN). I was born and raised on the sweet island of Jamaica where I did most of my education up until high school. I moved to New York shortly after to pursue tertiary education in the field of nutrition. My goal is to acquire a PhD in nutrition and attain my Registered Dietitian credentials.
I fell in love with Nutrition in high school and my passion grew as I developed both academically and professionally. I realized that health was so much more than food and exercise. Therefore my journey in the field has developed into a social justice quest and I am so excited to make an impact in this way.
I have a bachelor of science in Health and Nutrition Science and am currently in the fourth year of my PhD training. My dissertation is centered on mitochondrial disease and metabolism. During undergrad I worked in a nutrition lab, where we studied a nutrient called choline and its effect on the offspring of moms who experienced GDM (Gestational Diabetes Mellitus); a state of hyperglycemia during pregnancy. This experience fueled my curiosity for understanding metabolism and my decision to pursue a PhD in Nutrition.
I enjoy making healthy food and teaching others about nutrition. Our Philosophy at THHN centers on the fact that Holistic health includes the health of our mind, body and soul. As a Christian, my faith plays a major role in how I look at health. My goal with this blog is to not only highlight the physical aspects of health, but also to shift your attention to health from a holistic point of view and promote a lifestyle outside of toxic diet culture. You can expect to see nutrition tips, recipes, content to feed your mind and soul and lots more.
