Harissa and Herb Focaccia

Guys, I've been in my bread making era. For the past couple months I've been playing around with making bagels, sandwich bread and focaccia. My bagels and focaccia have been coming out well quite consistently, so today I want to share my Harissa and herb focaccia recipe with you. It was so delicious! Nice and crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy inside. This one is perfect on its own as a snack or for sandwiches.

Ingredients

2 cups Bread Flour

1 cup warm water

1 tsp active dry yeast

1 tsp Salt

4 tbsp Olive oil

2 tbsp Harissa

1 tbsp Rosemarry

1/2 shallot, sliced

Directions

  1. Combine flour, salt and yeast in a bowl. Whisk until uniformly incorporated.

  2. Add water and combine until a sticky dough is formed. ( don't worry about the stickiness, there is no need to add flour, it is supposed to be sticky).

  3. Add the olive oil to the dough and rub it all over to ensure the entire dough is covered in the oil.

  4. Cover the dough with a kitchen towel and let it rest for 1-2 hours.

  5. Spread butter on a baking sheet.

  6. Uncover your proofed dough and pull the dough inward from the corners. Transfer it unto the baking sheet.

7. Put a bit of olive oil in your palms and rub it together.

8. Using oiled hands, spread out the dough so that it covers the entirety of the pan.

9. Cover the dough one more time and let it rest for 30mins.

10. After 30mins, poke dimples into the dough starting from top to bottom.

11. Spoon harissa into each dimple.

12. Sprinkle rosemary and sliced red onion on the dough.

13. Bake the dough at 425 degrees farenheit for 25mins.

This is one of the easiest breads I've made and it makes regular appearances in my kitchen in many renditions. You can get creative with the toppings. I've done a chimichurri version and also a tomato version, both equally divine. I hope you try this one out, you won't be disappaointed!
