Harissa Branzino Stew

This is your sign to diversify your fish intake. Raise your hand if salmon is the only fish on your seafood rotation...you are not alone! This week we'll be talking all about fish on instagram and I will share this and another recipe on the blog to get you started with diversifying your fish intake. One of the major reasons why we're all fixated on salmon is because of its omega 3 content. Salmon is the poster girl for the highest omega 3 content but there are other fish that have a good amount of omega 3's as well. In fact mackerel has more omega 3's than salmon. Anyway, we are not here to compare. I'm here to share with you that salmon is not your only source of omega 3's. So, if you want to mix it up every now and then, continue below for a recipe using branzino (AKA Italian sea bass).

Recipe

Ingredients

1/2 onion

1 Shallot

1/2 green pepper

6 tomatoes cut into quarters

2 tbsp harissa spice

2 branzino fillets

Fresh dill

1/2 cup tomato sauce

Cracked black pepper

1tbsp oil

Directions

  1. Baste each branzino fillet on both sides with harissa spice and set aside in the fridge for 1hr or overnight.

  2. Dice onions, green peppers and shallots.

  3. Sauté the vegetables in 1tbsp of oil on medium heat.

  4. Add in the chopped tomatoes and let them cook down to release the water content into the pot.

  5. Once tomatoes are soft add in the marinated branzino fillets and let it cook down.

  6. Pour in the tomato sauce and cover the fish and veggies. Cover the pot and let it cook for another 3-5mins on low heat.

  7. Sprinkle fresh dill all over the stew and enjoy with rice or any flatbread of your choosing.

This recipe serves three (or if you live in a single household, you'll have enough for 3 meals). Please share your recreations with us on instagram, and remember, salmon is not your only source of omega 3s :)
